Pastor Bruce's Message - February 2015

A Word From Our Pastor...

Psalms 50:2 ESV “Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God shines forth.”

Most of my life and my families’ lives have been consumed with the church. First and foremost I mean God’s people. The Scripture says that the church is made up of those who have been redeemed by the blood of the Lamb and we are adopted into the Family of God. “But to all who did receive him, who     believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, (13)  who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.” John 1:12-13 ESV  And also,
“…..And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.” That’s who and what we are consumer with. Acts 2:47 ESV

This verse in Psalms uses the word “Zion” which generally means the church. In the New Testament the Greek word for church is “ekklēsia” which is translated, a calling out, or called out ones who make up the assembly of believers.  The body of believers both universally and also locally. Notice the Scripture says that “Out of Zion, [the church, God’s people here on earth], are the “perfection of beauty.”  This gives us a real picture of how God looks upon His children. The church today, and I mean the way people see the church and not how God sees the church, is in a state of chaos in some respects. She is criticized for not conforming to popular opinion, although some who call themselves the church are indeed conforming, and we are in a position where some are even searching for the true meaning of what it means to be the church. She is a Divine Institution born in the heart of God, she is not and never will be a human          organization. She is ruled by none other than Jesus Christ who loves the church and shed His blood for her. “Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God, which he obtained with his own blood.” Acts 20:28 ESV Paul here is speaking to the Ephesian elders for the last time that he will ever see them here on earth.

How do people see you? Do they see the “perfection of beauty” that “shines forth” the light of God? That’s how God wants to look upon His people.

We are experiencing a mighty move of God in our midst. We have the opportunity before us to shine forth the perfection of God like never before in the life of this congregation. We will have a facility that will give us a wonderful resource for doing the work of the Kingdom of God.

We will be hearing more and more in the weeks and months ahead of the progress of the construction of the Trinity Point Church of God. There is going to be a flurry of activity in the months ahead. I know it still seems a long way off, but the time will fly by and before we know it we will be worshipping in our new facility.

Please continue to pray and be faithful to the work of our congregation, we have taken a great step of faith and the Scripture says, And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” Philippians 1:6 ESV

Please consider signing up for one of the Bible Study groups that is starting in February. We are going to do a study on the book, “The Pursuit of God” by A.W. Tozer. I promise you that you will be challenged and that it will be a great opportunity for spiritual growth.
God bless you as we continue to keep our eye on the prize. “I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:14 ESV
